What this site is for

This is a patient decision guide to filler treatment of the lip, published by Chongqing West District Hospital, a tertiary general hospital in Jiulongpo District, Chongqing. It narrows the filler pages of this cluster rather than repeating them: what filler is, whether to have it and how the substance classes differ are answered there. What this site adds is the part that is specific to the lip — a small, constantly moving area with arteries that vary in course, a border that shows a wrong plane early, and a fortnight of swelling that decides how the result is judged.

The narrowing this site is built on

The lip is not a small cheek. It is the most mobile soft tissue on the face, so anything placed in it is deformed by speech, eating and expression for as long as it lasts, and the result is read in movement rather than only at rest. Its arteries vary between people and between the two sides, so a small area carries a real vascular risk. Its border is a junction between skin and mucosa rather than a fold in skin, and it does not absorb a mistake the way a static area does. Everything here turns on those three facts, which is why the assessment and the first fortnight are described before the treatment in almost every guide.

What it deliberately does not do

It does not name products or brands, quote prices or dosages, or promise a result. It does not present a lip as a place where more is straightforwardly better, and it does not present a temporary result as a lasting one. It does not describe the substance classes, because that is the parent site’s work rather than this one’s, and it does not present an operation as a failure of the injection, because where an operation is the honest answer that is what the assessment will say.

How the content is reviewed and corrected

Ke He, MD, Deputy Director and Head of Skin & Laser Aesthetics, is the responsible physician. Every guide is reviewed against her clinical judgement before publication and reviewed again on a twelve-month cycle. If you find something unclear, out of date or wrong, the contact page explains how to tell us, and corrections are made to the page itself.
